Prayong Deeying was born in Surin, Thailand. He received a full scholarship from The Royal Family "Krome Pra-ya Dhumrong" to study in Fine Art at Silpa Korn University, Bangkok, Thailand where he received his BFA in sculpting.
He was employed by the US Army as an instructor for three years and continued to do freelance artwork. Deeying is recognized as an accomplished artist in Thailand, honored by having four life-size sculptures (measuring 18' high) placed on permanent exhibition in The Ancient City Park, Bang Poo, Thailand, and exhibited in the National Museum in Bangkok.
Prayong moved to the United States in 1974 and received a Master's Degree in Painting from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, Louisiana. His thesis was entitled, "An Investigation of How the Atmosphere Affects Color, Form, and Space in Landscape Painting". From 1977 to 1987 he taught at St. Mary's High School in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Deeying has received numerous juried art show awards, including a permanent display at The Memorial portrait of Dr. Eugene P. Watson at the Northwestern State University Library; the Memorial portrait of Martha C. Roberson, co-Founder of the Natchitoches-Northerwestern Symphony Society at The Fine Arts Auditorium of the A.A. Fredrick's Centre for Creative and Performing Arts at NSU and the Memorial portrait of Dr. Lillian E. West, long term Director of Theater at Northwestern State University. His "Caldwell Hall-NSU" painting was selected for the permanent art collection displayed in the board room of the Board of Trustees for Colleges and Universities in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 1985, Prayong was selected for Louisiana Limited Edition I, a non-profit organization featuring Seventeen Louisiana artists.
In August 1987, he moved to Orlando, Florida where he worked as Preparatory Artist at Walt Disney World for 20 years, painting, sculpting, and supervising show finishers to meet Disney Show Quality Standards. In 1992, he participated with 18 Walt Disney World Artists in an exhibition entitled "DESIGN HAS MANNERS-ART HAS GUTS". In 2001, he completed two 16' high figures of Giant guards on permanent display at Wat Florida Dhammaram, Kissimmee, Florida. In 2010, he participated in a two person art show at the Gallery of Avalon Island, Orlando. In 2013, Deeying was one of five Central Florida Watercolor Society members to be accepted into the 2013 Florida Watercolor Show and was selected to be part of the inaugural Florida Watercolor Society Traveling Exhibition.
Deeying currently serves as President of Wat Florida Dhammaram and President of the Asian-American Heritage Council.
Prayong is now retired and lives in Ocoee, Florida. He continues to teach and work in his studio. He has three children, Gibb, Michael and Anthony and three grandchildren, Faith, Grace and Ellie. He lives with his wife, Cindy, mother-in-law, Dorothy and three cats.
